Reader's Notes - Top Ten Jazz Books

Always a fine starting point for debate, here's a top ten list from writer Reggie Nadelson listing her choices for the Top 10 Jazz books of all time.  I won't admit to how many I haven't read on this list, but let's just say I need to get to the library someday soon.  Toni Morrison's Jazz checks in at Number Two.

Mostly, I must say, I prefer to listen - but I have read several jazz books. My favorite of all is Robin D.G.Kelley's biography of Thelonious Monk, without a doubt. A close second would be Charles Mingus' Beneath the Underdog, a book that is more jazz than biography. The latest biography of Louis Armstrong, called Pops I believe, is really good too... Dewey
