Forwarded from Vancouver radio host Nou Dadoun -- his A-Trane has been on CFRO since 1986 -- comes an excellent interview with pianist, arranger, and composer Mary Lou Williams, who visited the city in 1977. Dadoun wrote a companion piece for the Vancouver Jazz website, also. The prolific Williams was a noted arranger and composer, active from the 1920s until her death in 1981, and was a friend and mentor of Thelonious Monk, Charlie Parker, Tadd Dameron, and many others. Listen to the interview here.
