This week we speak with Rob Palmer, the author of
Mr PC: The Life and Music of Paul Chambers. For those who might not know, Chambers was a gifted bassist who played on many essential jazz recordings of the late 50s and early 60s -- including (to name but a few)
Kind of Blue,
Blue Train,
Brilliant Corners, and
The Blues and the Abstract Truth. As a bonus today, we've got three videos of Chambers -- two of his playing with John Coltrane as part of the Wynton Kelly Trio, and another with Miles Davis as part of the musical world of
Kind of Blue.
